HOLIDAY, Fla. – The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the suspicious incident involving a possibly armed and barricaded subject in Holiday has been resolved peacefully Friday.

“Thank God. Everybody’s okay. Everybody’s gonna be able to go home after this incident,” said Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Pasco Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious incident at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the Fairmont Dr. area of Holiday.

The suspect, Eric Dykstra, 57, had recently been released from jail and was under a no-contact order from the female victim.

The female victim had a camera inside of her home and could see Dykstra.

Upon deputies’ arrival, Dykstra fired a shot inside the home and threatened arriving deputies. At that time, deputies assumed a tactical position and called for additional resources.

Dykstra made threats to the residence and positioned gas and propane tanks to deter entry by deputies, which was observed via the home security system.

After several hours where deputies continued contact with Dykstra, Dykstra exited the residence without incident and was taken into custody.

“We did everything we could to have a peaceful resolution because he already showed violence. Not only towards the victim of the domestic battery, he fired a round while law enforcement was approaching,” said Nocco.

Out of an abundance of caution, Gulfside Elementary School was on controlled campus status.
