HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire Wednesday morning at 5013 Terrace Club Lane.

According to officials, the dispatch center received a 911 call at 10:38 am from a caller reporting a fire in the apartment next to theirs.

HCFR’s Engine 14 was the first arriving unit and said smoke was coming from the first-floor apartment.

Engine 14 stretched a hose line into the building, initiating an aggressive interior attack. The fire was reported out just 10 minutes after Engine 14 arrived on the scene, limiting the blaze to the kitchen where it started.

During the operation, a firefighter from HCFR’s Truck 5 rescued an unresponsive dog from the apartment.

HCFR’s paramedics sprung into action, administering high-flow oxygen to the pet through a special oxygen mask, which revived him.

Despite being thirsty, “Bruno” made an immediate recovery.

Primary and secondary searches were completed, and no other occupants were inside the apartment. There were no injuries to civilians or first responders.

The occupant unknowingly turned on the stove, which was the cause of the fire as determined by our Fire Investigations Unit.
