Hillsborough County Tax Collector Plant City Office Closing to Relocate in NEW Building

PLANT CITY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Tax Collector Doug Belden announces that the Plant City Tax Collector office will close to relocate. Construction of the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s new 17,000 square-foot office in Plant City is near completion. The current location will close on December 3, 2020. The Plant City office will re-open at 4706 Sydney Road at the end of December by appointment.

The new office is replacing the current Tax Collector Plant City office located in the Strawberry Plaza on James Redman Parkway.

The new building was developed on parcels owned by Hillsborough County. The cost for building the new office was just over $4 million. Owning this building, as opposed to continue renting in Strawberry Plaza, will save taxpayers about $300,000 per year.

The new building is more energy efficient with LED lighting, additional insulation and high-efficiency air conditioning units. The lobby is also 30% larger than the current office. “The timing of this office opening is ideal provided we are mandated to ensure our customers and staff are able to safely maintain social distancing while conducting business with our office,” says Belden.

When the new location opens, residents will be able to obtain driver licenses, pay property taxes, take a road test, renew registrations as well as obtain Florida birth certificates and hunting and fishing licenses.
