Hit-And-Run Driver Says He Thought He Hit And Animal In Fatal Tampa Crash

TAMPA, Fla. - Deputies have located the vehicle and driver of the white Ford work van involved in Saturday's fatal hit-and-run accident.

TAMPA, Fla. – Deputies have located the vehicle and driver of the white Ford work van involved in Saturday’s fatal hit-and-run accident. 

The vehicle involved was located in the 8000 block of Bay Bridge Court, in Tampa.

Deputies made contact with the driver, who cooperated and claimed he hit something but thought it was an animal.

He also says he did return to the scene but did not see anything. Detectives are following up with surveillance cameras in the area to confirm if this statement is accurate.  

The pedestrian involved in the hit-and-run did succumb to his injuries late Saturday night. 

At this time, the driver is not facing any charges.

This is an ongoing investigation.
