How Technology Is Changing The Car Industry

(StatePoint)- Electric vehicles (EV) are becoming commonplace. By now, you’ve probably seen a Tesla, the Ford Mustang Mach E, Chevy Bolt or Nissan Leaf on the road at least once. Maybe you’ve even heard about newer models like the Rivian R1T pickup and the Toyota bZ4X crossover. And chargers? Yeah, you’ve probably seen them at highway rest stops or store parking lots. Now, you may be wondering if it’s time to go electric.

Technology is fascinating – It affects everyone in different ways! No matter the industry you are in, whether it be automotive, food & drink, sports, art, and so on, technology will constantly be evolving how you do things and changing the industry.

You just have to look at your mobile phone. Think back ten or fifteen years ago and then compare the device you had back then to the device you have now. Flip phones used to be the fashion, now everyone has an iPhone, Samsung, or Google Device.

The car industry is another interesting market in that technology is always changing it. The way we make cars have changed, the technology within cars has changed and the hot topic that will always be brought up is driverless cars – what happens in a driverless car crash? Is it safe to be in a driverless car? When will driverless cars be in front of manually driven cars?

Below we look into how technology is going to change the car industry.

Safety

Cars are amazing creations and so many people heavily rely on them to get from a-b. With so many users on the road, safety is the most important factor when making a car. This is why technology will always have a massive effect and change the car industry. As technology continues to improve, the way we test safety will be different, better safety devices will be built into the car and smart technology will be ever present to help avoid human error.

Lowering Emissions

Our planet is extremely dear to us but with so many people in the world, pollution is increasing causing damage to our environment. Part of the damage that is being caused is having too many cars on the road that are poisoning the air we breathe.

We aren’t there yet but electric cars are going to become more and more efficient and over time will be what every dealership sells and manufacturer makes. Electric cars are so much better for the environment and with technology improving, it’s only going to get better. Just think about the Tesla brand by Elon Musk. They haven’t been around for long but now they are one of the most popular cars and they are all electric.

Self-driving systems

It’s inevitable, self-driving cars are going to be part of our future, the only question is when. The technology is pretty much there, they are just making the changes to ensure it’s completely safe. You’ve seen the Google car being tested on the roads many times and you’ve seen many brands launch semi-self-driving systems like lane control or cruise control. Some cars have automatic parking where they use the cameras in their car to park the vehicle for you. The only issue is that it currently isn’t 100% accurate and you need to be very aware of what is going on in case something goes wrong.

How do you think technology is going to change the car industry? When do you think we will all be using driverless cars? Is there anything you would like to add that will benefit our readers? Let us know in the comments below.
