PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A teen on a bicycle was struck and killed in Hudson on Thursday at around 6:30 am, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a Dodge Charger, driven by a 31-year-old Hudson man, was traveling eastbound on Kitten Trail.

At the intersection of Thompson Avenue, the vehicle drove up on a bicyclist, traveling eastbound in the travel lane with no lights on the dark, unlighted roadway.

Despite an attempt to avoid a collision, the vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle, causing serious injuries to the rider, who was not wearing a helmet.

The 15-year-old rider from Hudson was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.
