As claims continue to be filed, estimated insured losses from Hurricane Idalia reached $97.7 million on Tuesday, according to data posted on the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation website.

Medical examiners have confirmed four deaths from Hurricane Idalia, which made landfall Aug. 30 in North Florida after barreling up the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Tuesday on its website.

The deaths came in Alachua, Brevard, Dixie and Pasco counties.

Meanwhile, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation said estimated insured losses from Category 3 hurricane totaled $159.1 million as of Monday.

The estimated losses have steadily climbed as claims have been filed. As of Monday, 17,681 claims had been filed, including 12,177 involving residential property.

Other types of claims include such things as auto damage.
