Bodies Unearthed in Hurricane Nicole

Multiple bodies have been unearthed after Hurricane Nicole made landfall in Florida on Thursday, and authorities believe they may Native American Indian remains.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene and Criminal Investigations team is at a beach along Hutchinson Island.

According to investigators, it appears that the strong winds from Hurricane Nicole have unearthed the remains of multiple bodies.

The remains are believed to be from a Native American burial ground located in the same vicinity, deputies say.

“So far, the remains of six bodies have been unearthed by the storm,” said Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives are working diligently to preserve and carefully remove the remains that are exposed with the utmost care and respect. Those remains will be transferred to the Medical Examiner’s Office, then to the Bureau of Archeological Research Department of State.

We will update this story as more details are released.
