As the illegal immigrant crime wave continues across the country, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and GOP Rep. Brian Mast secured a win to get an accused rapist off the streets — after the Biden administration had set him free.

Sheriff’s deputies in Martin County re-arrested Juan Jose-Sebastian after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement allowed him back into the community, claiming they had no room to keep him.

Jose-Sebastian had been apprehended and did time in Martin County for driving without a license, according to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

As he was about to be released, the Sheriff’s Office checked his status and learned Jose-Sebastian was wanted on a warrant from Washington County, Oregon, on three counts of rape and sexual abuse.

Yet Washington County told the agency they did not want the illegal immigrant from Guatemala extradited back to Oregon to face charges.

Meanwhile, ICE told Sheriff William Snyder that there was no “bed space” for ICE to hold Jose-Sebastian.

Snyder said he had no other choice but to release him back into the community on Friday.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said, “Reaction from our community was swift, particularly actions taken by Congressman Brian Mast, who worked immediately on this issue, along with Governor Ron DeSantis and ICE Officials out of Washinton DC. As a result, ICE officials authorized MCSO to locate and re-arrest the Fugitive From Justice. He is now in the custody of Immigration officials.”

“This is where things turned stupidly dangerous,” Mast noted in a post on X. “@ICEgov is denying this [Oregon] warrant exists. For them, this illegal immigrant is already being sentenced to final removal from America. It is not enough for them to pick him up while they pull their head out and confirm its existence.”

On X on Saturday, DeSantis spokesman Brian Mast added, “Governor DeSantis has zero tolerance for illegal alien criminals who shouldn’t even be in this country in the first place.”

“At @GovRonDeSantis’ direction, senior state law enforcement officials immediately reached out to ICE to insist local law enforcement had the authority to re-detain this individual and ensure he wouldn’t be able to bring harm to Floridians.”
