A local government official in Illinois is going one step further to challenge leftists on their affection for woke “sanctuary” policies for illegal immigrants.

Naperville Councilman Josh McBroom wants his constituents to open their homes to illegals, literally.

At a recent council meeting, McBroom noted that Naperville, a wealthy liberal suburb of Chicago, is a “compassionate community.”

So, in line with that, he called for creating a “sign-up sheet” so residents could enlist in making space available for the outlaw newcomers.

“Before we go down the road of following some of these other cities … my idea would be, let’s find out. Let’s find out who’s willing to help,” McBroom said at the meeting, held last week.

The councilman added that people on both sides of the political divide demand that the city “preemptively” stop the flood of illegals. But still others argue the city “should do more,” McBroom noted.

“We do have a very affluent community, a lot of big homes. So what I’d like to do is direct staff to create a sign-up sheet for individuals that would be willing to house migrant families,” he added.

“If there’s people that would do that, God bless them,” McBroom said. “I think we need to find out who’d be willing to house migrant families.

Located west of Chicago, according to the Census Bureau, Naperville has a median household income of about $144,000 a year — or $70,000 more than America. The median value of a single-family home was roughly $483,000.

President Joe Biden carried Naperville against Trump in 2020 by 20 points.

Fox News, which also reported on McBroom’s comments, noted that city staff was given direction to draft a response to McBroom’s proposal and report its findings at a future meeting.
