Inverness Woman Struck And Killed On SR-44 Early Monday

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 60-year-old Inverness woman was struck and killed Monday while crossing SR-44, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 61-year-old Hernando man, was traveling westbound on SR-44.

East of South Shad Terrace, a 60-year-old Inverness woman walked across the highway, entered the path of, and was struck by the vehicle.

According to FHP, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, while the driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
