HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Mark your calendars for upcoming events at New Tampa Performing Arts Center (NTPAC).

Tickets are on sale for the following events and performances:

New Tampa Unplugged
This series is NTPAC’s spin on the hit show, MTV Unplugged, which aired in the 1990s and early 2000s and featured popular artists of the time performing acoustic sets. The New Tampa Unplugged series presents acoustic performances from notable Tampa Bay musicians in a unique, intimate setting with candlelit cabaret seating. Beer, wine, and cocktails available for purchase. Tickets are $13 for a theater seat and $15 for a table seat and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/Tickets.

  • New Tampa Unplugged: Stewart Tussing Band on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m.  
    • The Stewart Tussing Band is a longtime Tampa Bay area favorite. With Kevin Stuart on guitar and vocal, Gary Tussing on cello, and Tom Nordin on percussion, the band is a lush, full combination of melody, harmony, and percussive rhythm. 
  • New Tampa Unplugged: Judy Tampa & Bunko Squad on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m.

Judy Tampa, lead of the folk-pop band Judy Tampa & Bunko Squad, joins the Unplugged lineup for an afternoon of original Americana music and a variety of reimagined cover tunes.

Creative Arts Theatre Presents: The Inventive Princess of Floralee on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m.
The City of Tampa’s Creative Arts Theatre will present this original, interactive fairy tale that will have children thinking like scientists as they laugh, dance, and think critically. The performance is free to attend with limited capacity. To register, visit NewTampaArtsCenter.org/Tickets.

New Tampa Players Presents Dreamgirls, Feb. 2-4 and Feb. 9-11 
Through gospel, R&B, smooth pop, disco, and more, Dreamgirls explores themes of ambition, hope, and betrayal, all set in the glamorous and competitive world of the entertainment industry. Purchase tickets on the New Tampa Players website.  

Taiko Drums of Japan with Tampa Taiko on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
Experience Asian culture and celebrations popular in Japan like Lunar New Year, Chinese New Year, and Matsuri Festivals with Tampa Taiko! They’ll bring traditional music and dancing styles to the stage, including The Chinese Lion Dance, a 3,000-year-old Chinese tradition that symbolizes prosperity, luck, and happiness. General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/Tickets.

USF New Tampa Jazz Series: Alexis Cole and the USF Jazz Ensemble 1 on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m.
Award-winning jazz singer Alexis Cole will perform big band arrangements from her highly acclaimed new album, Sky Blossoms: Songs From My Tour of Duty. The album reflects the repertoire during her time as the vocalist for the U.S. Army’s Jazz Knights. Tickets available through Tampa Jazz Club

Tampa Bay Symphony Winter 2024 “Music of the Heart” on Friday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m.

  • Incandescence (Ukraine’s Undying Light) – Brandon Walker (2022 International Composition Competition Finalist)
  • Piano Concerto No. 1 – Franz Liszt – Quang Vo, Piano (Jack Heller Young Artist Competition Winner)
  • Symphony No. 4 in E minor – Johannes Brahms

Kids Film Series
Families can enjoy these hit movies on the big screen in NTPAC’s state-of-the-art theater. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at NewTampaArtsCenter.org/Tickets.

  • Frozen on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m.
    • Kids are invited to dress up in their favorite Frozen-inspired costume and sing along as they enjoy the adventures of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and friends!   
  • How To Train Your Dragon on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m.
    • Follow along with a misfit Viking teen who befriends a dragon, despite his tribe’s tradition of dragon slaying, in this adaptation of the children’s fantasy book by Cressida Cowell.
