POLK COUNTY, FL. – A 43-year-old Lake Alfred man has 1,000,000 reasons to smile after a scratch-off ticket hits a $1,000,000 prize instantly.
According to the Florida Lottery, Jose Vences Maldonado, 43, of Lake Alfred, claimed a $1 million prize from the new 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.00.
Vences Maldonado purchased his winning ticket from Wawa, located at 334 Havendale Boulevard in Auburndale. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
