Liberals have been frothing at the mouth over Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis objecting to, and then rejecting, a pile of woke ideology disguised as African American history.

But on this issue, DeSantis can count one of his staunchest critics as an ally.

According to the Florida Standard, Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor, who is black, dubbed the College Board’s AP African American Studies program “trash.”

“There is grave concern about the tone and the tenor of leadership’s voice from the highest spaces in our state being hostile to teaching of African American history. Well, frankly, I’m against the College Board’s curriculum,” Proctor said.

“I think it’s trash.”

“It’s not African American history. It is ideology,” Proctor added.

“I’ve taught African American history, I’ve structured syllabuses for African American history. I am African American history. And talking about ‘queer’ and ‘feminism’ and all of that for the struggle for freedom and equality and justice has not been no tension with queerness and feminist thought at all,” he argued.

Proctor also teaches political science at Florida A&M, a historically black university.

After DeSantis objected, and the Florida Department of Education showed how flawed the course was and that it did not align with state law on teaching black history, the College Board revised the AP African American Studies curriculum.

DeSantis labeled the program woke indoctrination.

The College Board released the updated curriculum on Wednesday. However, it denied that DeSantis had anything to do with the changes, which included getting rid of everything Florida had objected to.

“This course has been shaped only by the input of experts and long-standing AP principles and practices,” the board said in a statement.
