ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Police detectives arrested Monica Williams, 24, and Daquan Lindsey, 25, for the murder of 3-year-old Brandy Crews.

They were the caregivers of the three-year-old girl.

Police say Brandy was brought to the hospital on August 9, unresponsive, with severe head injuries. Further investigation showed that she had multiple cuts, burns, and injuries all over her body in various stages of healing. She died from her injuries on August 12.

Williams and Lindsey also face child abuse and child neglect charges for a young boy in their care. That child’s injuries are not life-threatening. The child has been removed from the home and is receiving treatment.

Two additional children under the age of 14 have also been removed from the home. There were a total of 4 children in the home, according to police.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Due to the confidential nature of the case, no information that can identify the remaining children will be released by police.
