Man Dies In Florida While Snorkeling

A 54-year-old Florida man has died while snorkeling and losing consciousness on an excursion.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo at approximately 12:15 p.m. Friday regarding a medical emergency.

Deputies say Leonard Cleveland Brown, 54, of Boca Raton, Florida, reportedly lost consciousness after snorkeling with a Bungalows Key Largo commercial vessel.

Investigators say company staff immediately began CPR while on the vessel.

Brown was pronounced dead at Marnier’s Hospital in Tavernier, Florida.

Investigators say that foul is not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
