A stolen car out of Washington State was recovered in Florida, and the suspect was arrested after the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing it into a treeline.

According to investigators, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office regarding the stolen Mercedes-Benz traveling north on State Road 285.

In an unmarked vehicle, a Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigator spotted the white sedan as it got on I-10 in Mossy Head and initiated a pursuit.

After avoiding spike stripes, the suspect lost control of the vehicle near mile marker 85 and crashed in the woodline south of the eastbound lanes.

When the driver refused to come out of the vehicle and obey commands, K9 Jocko was placed in the car to assist in his apprehension.

The suspect, identified as Rue Gilbert Hardin, 32, of Shoreline, Washington is being transported to the Walton County Jail after being checked out by Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida.
