Michigan Man Charged With Stabbing Pregnant Girlfriend To Death In Her Car

A 31-year-old Michigan man was arraigned Wednesday in the alleged stabbing death of his pregnant girlfriend.

According to the Macomb County Prosector’s Office, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, Damarion Goler stabbed his pregnant girlfriend, 31-year-old Talic Mersina, near the door of their Sterling Heights apartment, resulting in her death and the death of her unborn child. 

Police found Goler and the victim in her car in the parking lot of his mother’s Clinton Township apartment building.

“The defendant allegedly chose to take the life of his pregnant girlfriend, someone who trusted and loved him. Justice demands that he face the consequences of his crimes. These acts are not merely crimes against individuals but against the very fabric of humanity itself, ” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Goler was arraigned in Sterling Heights District Court by Magistrate Michael Piatek, who remanded him without bond to the Macomb County Jail.   A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm, and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 8:30 am by Sterling Heights District Court Judge Kimberly Wiegand.

Goler was charged with the following:

  • Count 1:  Second Degree Murder (life felony)
  • Count 2:  Assault of a Pregnant Individual – Intentionally Causing Miscarriage (life felony)
  • Count 3:  Tampering with Evidence (ten-year felony)
  • Count 4: Concealing the Death of an Individual (five-year felony)
