Leftists in Minneapolis over the weekend used an alleged art show to celebrate the torching of a police station during the 2020 riots following the death of convicted armed robber George Floyd.

Ian Miles Cheong of Rebel News and other conservatives highlighted a video of the Art Sled Rally at Powderhorn Park on Saturday.

The event featured children piloting elaborately built, wheeled sleds down a small hill covered with wooden boards. The sleds depicted fish, dragons, train engines, birds, farm equipment, and other things.

At one point, a sled shaped like a rectangular box rolled by. The sides were covered to resemble bricks, while blue lettering on a white field around the top declared “3rd Precinct.”

As the sled traveled, orange and yellow items bobbed up and down, indicating flames. The float also indicated a person dressed like a pig was inside.

Hundreds of adults, almost all of whom appeared to be white, cheered wildly as the sled paraded down its short route.

The sled recalled the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct, which leftist rioters led by Black Lives Matter burned to the ground in May 2020 on the third night of rioting after Floyd’s death.

The Fox affiliate in Minneapolis reported at the time that officers abandoned the station after it was surrounded by more than 2,000 violent protesters, who hurled rocks, concrete blocks, “mortars” and other debris at the building. The rioters also padlocked the cops’ only escape route as they chanted “Burn it down! Burn it down!”

Then-President Donald Trump responded by threatening to send in the National Guard to restore law and order if “the very weak radical left” Mayor Jacob Frey could not do the job.

According to Fox 9 in Minneapolis on Sunday, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called the sled “appalling” and “counterproductive” in an email sent to his officers and civilian staff.

O’Hara added that he was personally “outraged and frustrated by the disgusting display.

“Make no mistake: the burning of the 3rd Precinct stationhouse set off a signal of lawlessness that resulted in the highest levels of violence to our most vulnerable residents,” O’Hara wrote to the staff, “but I am extremely grateful – as everyone who lives and works in this city should be – for the work that all of you do every day.”

The chief also noted in his comments the “patronization and racial arrogance” of white liberals who presume to speak at community meetings on behalf of “marginalized communities.”

On X on Sunday, the account Crime Watch Minneapolis offered a lengthy thread that included posting the video and many still photographs of the crowd.

In one post, the account noted many of the bystanders smiling broadly as the sled travels by: “Gleeful Minneapolis neighbors cheering the destruction of your neighborhood,” the account user posted. “Faces of your neighbors who think this is absolutely hilarious and a great lesson for children.”

Yet to leftists, it was the chief who was being “divisive.”

Michelle Gross, president of a liberal group called Communities United Against Police Brutality, applauded the sled, Fox 9 reported.

“His lack of recognition of what that third precinct represents to this community – that’s what’s not helpful,” Gross told the outlet. “I think it’s completely outrageous for him to attempt to drive wedges between people based on race,” said Gross in response. “People across the board suffered.  This isn’t a race thing.”

One commenter on YouTube posted in response to the video of the sled, “Man, people are so mad about the precinct sled. Grow up.”
