Per an earlier agreement with President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, a New Hampshire man was sentenced on Thursday to three years’ probation and fined $500 for threatening to assassinate a member of Congress.

Curiously, though, neither federal prosecutors, the Associated Press, which first reported the sentencing, nor any other mainstream media that picked up the AP story — including The Washington Post, NBC News and U.S. News & World Report — identified the lawmaker who was victimized by Allan Poller, a former student at Keene State College in New Hampshire.

It turns out the victim was Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.

As the Tampa Free Press reported last April, when Poller was indicted on a charge of threatening to murder a federal official, the suspect left the threat in a voicemail with Gaetz’s office. He actually identified Gaetz by name and spelled out his own name in the message.

“Hi, my name is Allan Poller, A-L-L-A-N P-O-L-L-E-R, phone number [redacted]-8931. And I just want to let you know, Representative [Name], if you keep on coming for the gays, we’re gonna strike back and I guarantee you, you do not want to f–k with us,” the message said, according to prosecutors.

“We will kill you if that’s what it takes. I will take a bullet to your f–king head if you f–k with my rights anymore. And then if you want to keep going down that path, you know who’s next.”

Poller reportedly called Gaetz in a drunken rage after scrolling through TikTok videos. As the Free Press reported, he left the threat after Gaetz made remarks about the transgender man who massacred six people, including three children, at a Christian school in Nashville in March.

Poller pleaded guilty in October, Other media outlets, such as CNN and CBS News, reported at the time that Gaetz was the victim.

With the more recent development, one local outlet, WMUR in New Hampshire, reported that Gaetz was the victim. But the national media was strangely silent about Gaetz being targeted now that Poller has received a relatively light sentence.

Prosecutors said at the time of the indictment that Poller, if convicted, faced up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Last April, Gaetz discussed the threat on his “Firebrand” podcast, saying that the Democrats “are purposefully riling up their nutty shock troops in the hopes they will terrorize normal Americans into submission. And more will come.”
