One-Dead in Plant City Domestic Violence Shooting Overnight

PLANT CITY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Plant City that left one woman dead on Wednesday night.

Deputies responded to a home on the 100 block of Kilgore Road around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, following reports of a disturbance. An adult male located at the residence said following a verbal altercation, an adult female who is known to him came at him with a knife. He shot at the woman, causing her to suffer upper body trauma. The woman was transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

“Domestic violence is unacceptable, regardless of gender, and it’s tragic when it rises to the level of anyone losing their life,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “As we continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting, I want to remind our community that there is help out there if you are in an abusive relationship. You can reach out to the Spring of Tampa Bay for support and resources by calling 813-247-7233.”

The shooter remained on the scene until deputies arrived. This is still an ongoing investigation.
