PLANT CITY, Fla. – A man is dead after a situation escalated at the post office in Plant City Sunday.
According to police, at approximately 5:16 p.m., the Plant City Police Department received a 911 call regarding a suicidal person in the parking lot of the US Post Office located at 2501 Walden Woods Drive.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject armed with a firearm and attempted to de-escalate the situation when the subject aggressively pointed his firearm at the officers.

The officers used deadly force, and the subject died at the scene, according to police.
Per Plant City Police Department policy, the officers involved in this shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave pending a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation.
