Op-Ed: Biden Is Running For Re-Election In The State Of Confusion

President Joe Biden could possibly pick a new state to run for re-election besides Delaware: the state of confusion.

That’s because Biden’s left-wing climate change proposals produce more bewilderment than green energy.

Last week, Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency launched a $7 billion grant program that, as the agency said in a press release, “seeks to increase access to affordable, resilient, and clean solar energy for millions of low-income households.”

It’s one of several steps Biden has taken to boost reliance on the sun for energy and to steer away from more efficient fossil fuels.

Yet just days later, over this past weekend, news reports say Biden wants to deflect the sun’s rays away from Earth in order to stop global warming.

In its report, the White House noted, “A program of research into the scientific and societal implications of solar radiation modification (SRM) would enable better-informed decisions about the potential risks and benefits of SRM as a component of climate policy, alongside the foundational elements of greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and adaptation. SRM offers the possibility of cooling the planet significantly on a timescale of a few years.”

“Climate change is already having profound effects on the physical and natural world, and on human well-being, and these effects will only grow as greenhouse gas concentrations increase and warming continues,” the report added. “Understanding these impacts is crucial to enable informed decisions around a possible role for SRM in addressing human hardships associated with climate change.”

Fox News noted that the Biden administration said in the report that “no plans [are] underway to establish a comprehensive research program focused on solar radiation modification.”

Yet the report is intended to analyze “space-based approaches” under a research program that “would also help to prepare the United States for possible deployment of SRM by other public or private actors.”

The problem with all that, besides the fact that frequent-faller Joe Biden wants to control the atmosphere, is the obvious conflict with demands of far-left climate activists.

Biden’s own Energy Department notes on its website, “Solar radiation, often called the solar resource or just sunlight, is a general term for the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sun. Solar radiation can be captured and turned into useful forms of energy, such as heat and electricity, using a variety of technologies.”

“The solar resource across the United States is ample for photovoltaic (PV) systems because they use both direct and scattered sunlight,” the department adds. “However, the amount of power generated by any solar technology at a particular site depends on how much of the sun’s energy reaches it.”

As PJ Media columnist Matt Margolis noted, “The climate change religion has once again managed to prove there is no limit to its absurdity.”

Biden’s “controversial concept,” Margolis wrote, “involves altering the chemical composition of the atmosphere to block sunlight. Which sounds completely terrifying.”

“Think about it: how many times has man tried to tinker with nature, and it actually worked out as planned? … Yet the Biden administration is literally open to the idea of chemically altering the atmosphere.”
