Florida Silver Alert Canceled For Missing Clearwater Man, Found Safe

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – James Joseph Elmi has been located and is safe, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, deputies issued a Silver Alert for 70-year-old James Joseph Elmi.

According to deputies, Elmi was last seen at his residence, 2900 Cove Cay Drive, at approximately 10:00 a.m. on April 19, 2024, and was last spoken to by phone at 5:45 p.m. on April 19, 2024.

Elmi is believed to be driving a 2023 light blue Volkswagen Taos, bearing Florida tag IFJ550.  His vehicle was last seen in Seminole County, and his phone was last pinged in Marion County.

Elmi suffers from medical issues.

He is described as a white male, 5’8″ tall and 205 pounds. He has blue eyes, salt and pepper hair, and balding. He was last seen wearing a plaid shirt with tan shorts. His car may have a scrape on the back passenger door.

Elmi has been entered into FCIC/NCIC as a Missing/Endangered Adult. You are asked to notify law enforcement immediately if you have any information on Elmi’s whereabouts.
