Pinellas County Office Closures Announced For April 24

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Several Pinellas County Government offices will close for a workforce recognition event on Wednesday, April 24.

The closures affect the departments that operate under the Board of County Commissioners, with exceptions outlined below.

Animal Shelter

  • The office and adoption center will be closed. A standby officer will be available for emergency calls.

Building and Development Review Services and Contractor Licensing

  • Offices will be closed.

Human Services

  • Human Services offices, including those of Veterans Services, will be closed.

Parks and Conservation Resources

  • Administrative offices will be closed, and annual beach and boat ramp passes will be available only online.
  • Sand Key Park in Clearwater will be closed to the public until 3 p.m. All other County parks and preserves, the Florida Botanical Gardens, and Heritage Village will be open.
  • Boat ramps and beach access areas will also be open during regular hours.

Solid Waste Disposal Complex

  • The Solid Waste Disposal Complex/Scalehouse will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • The Swap Shop will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • The Administration Building will be closed all day.

Utilities

  • The Business and Customer Services Call Center and the lobby at 14 S. Fort Harrison will be closed. Customers can make payments online and can reach the answering service at (727) 464-4000 for emergencies.

The closures do not affect the offices under the county’s constitutional officers, including the Sheriff’s Office, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser and Supervisor of Elections. These offices will remain open countywide.

Also, the courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) will be in session with normal operating hours. All County facilities will resume normal operating hours on Thursday, April 25.
