Pinellas County Sheriff’s Detectives Investigating Death Of Female Inmate

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide unit are investigating the death of 49-year-old inmate Stephanie Vaughan.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide unit are investigating the death of 49-year-old inmate Stephanie Vaughan.

Detectives say Vaughan was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on August 25, 2023, at approximately 12:36 a.m. after being arrested by the Clearwater Police Department for an Open Alcohol Container.

According to detectives, at around 1:37 p.m. on August 25, 2023, deputies located Vaughan unresponsive in her cell. Deputies began CPR until paramedics arrived. Vaughan was transported to the hospital.

Vaughan was pronounced deceased at 2:45 p.m.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the cause and manner of death.

Next of kin has been notified.
