Pinellas County Tax Collector Recognized for Financial Excellence and Accuracy

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office finds themselves right on the money again. Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas was recognized with the prestigious Legacy Award for Financial Operations. The award, presented by The Florida Tax Collector’s Association, is one of the most significant honors the association gives and is awarded for superb financial accuracy.

“Receiving this recognition is an honor and a testament to our amazing Budget & Finance team,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas.  “They are dedicated to the highest standards of accuracy and excellence. I am very proud of their accomplishment, they deserve this award.”

Thomas was selected by a five-person judging panel made up of government financial executives from throughout Florida. The criteria for the Legacy Award include a clean, error-free annual audit report combined with evidence of technological innovations, customer focus, and budgeting skills.

“Achieving this perfect audit is a reflection of Charles W. Thomas’ exemplary performance day in and day out.  Maintaining focus on the details to achieve perfection is not easy,” said Anne Gannon, President of the Florida Tax Collectors Association. “The residents of Pinellas County can have confidence in [his] ability to provide exemplary service.”

2020 is the ninth consecutive year of winning the Legacy Award for the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office. The office also received the Governor’s Sterling Award in 2013 and 2020, and the Governor’s Sterling Sustained Excellence Award in 2016.
