Poinciana Man Arrested After Hit And Run Of 11–Year Child

Poinciana man, Pierre Carmelo Jacinthe was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injuries (F2) and Tampering with Evidence (F3).

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Poinciana man, 66-year-old Pierre Carmelo Jacinthe, was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injuries (F2) and Tampering with Evidence (F3).

He told detectives that he struck the child by accident, panicked, and then fled the scene. He then hid his vehicle in the garage at his residence where detectives located it.

“I’ve said it before, if you are involved in a crash, stop and call law enforcement. Leaving the scene of a crash is unacceptable. Thankfully, the 11-year-old should make a full recovery, but the driver now faces felony charges. If he would have just remained at the scene, he might not have been charged with two felonies,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

The 11-year-old who was struck by Jacinthe is expected to make a full recovery.
