Polk County Sheriff Investigating Poinciana Hit And Run Crash Of 11-Year-Old Child, Suspect Arrested

The Polk County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit is investigating a hit-and-run traffic crash involving an 11-year-old pedestrian.

POINCIANA, Fla. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating a hit-and-run traffic crash involving an 11-year-old pedestrian.

Deputies say the child has a broken leg and was transported to a hospital to be treated for the injuries.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. this morning at the intersection of Cedar Side Drive and Rio Grande Canyon Loop in Poinciana.

Deputies say the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored Toyota 4-Runner.

Deputies quickly located the vehicle and identified the suspect as 66-year-old Pierre Carmelo Jacinthe of Poinciana. 

Around 10:45 a.m., Jacinthe turned himself in at the Davenport Police Department.
