Search For Missing Autistic Man In Polk County Concludes As The Man Was Located Safe

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Max Roman was located just after 2:00 PM, and he is safe and unharmed, according to Pok County Sheriff’s Office.

“Someone called the PCSO saying that the person we were looking for was in the clubhouse of a gated neighborhood about three miles from where he disappeared,” said PCSO. “She recognized him from one of our social media posts, so we thank her for getting involved.”

Detectives are reuniting Max with his family.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was looking for a Missing/Endangered adult from the area of Bella Cita Blvd & US 27 in the Davenport/Four Corners area of northeast Polk County.

The missing person is a 23-year-old high-functioning autistic male named Max Roman. He was last seen wearing a burgundy and purple shirt and grey pants.

He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 240 pounds. He should be able to move around the area on foot.

Max was last seen at his residence on Tuesday, April 16th, at about 9:45 PM.

The Florida Purple Alert is used to assist in the location of missing adults suffering from a mental or cognitive disability that is not Alzheimer’s disease or a dementia-related disorder; an intellectual disability or a developmental disability; a brain injury; other physical, mental or emotional disabilities that are not related to substance abuse; or a combination of any of these and whose disappearance poses a credible threat of immediate danger or seriously bodily harm.
