Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued for Portion of Ruskin

RUSKIN, Fla. – Hillsborough County Water Resources today issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers in the area of East College Avenue and 15th Street S.E. in Ruskin.

Water Resources work crews were working this afternoon in the area of 410 E. College Ave. to repair a water line leak. While the work was underway, the minimum water pressure in the County’s water distribution system dropped below the regulatory level.

Customers are advised to boil water as a precautionary measure until a rescission notice is issued.

The boundary for the precautionary boil water notice is south of East College Avenue and west of 15th Street S.E. For the area south and west of the Little Manatee River, the southern boundary is Universal Drive, and the western boundary is U.S. 41.

The Department of Health in Hillsborough County requires a precautionary boil water notice after pressure in the lines drops below a certain level.

The notice means customers are advised, as a precautionary measure, to boil all tap water used for cooking, drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes.

A full rolling boil for one minute is sufficient; cool before using. As an alternative, bottled water may be used. Allow the water to run until it is clear before washing clothes. Discard any ice from automatic ice makers.
