Democrats, under the leadership of President Joe Biden, reflexively reject other potential motives and call for gutting the Second Amendment following each tragic mass shooting, such as the most recent one in Maine.
But now it appears Biden wants to impose gun control on other nations—most notably, America’s staunchest ally in the Middle East, which is now in a war ignited by a terrorist attack on its citizens.
According to the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday, Biden refused to sell Israel weapons it sought to aid in its battles against the terrorist group Hamas, whose strikes against Jews on Oct. 7 killed more than 1,400 people, including at least 33 Americans.

The reason: Biden wanted the Israeli government to guarantee the guns would not be given to Israeli citizens living in the West Bank, a largely Palestinian area that belongs to and is governed by Israel.
Israel requested to purchase “thousands” of M-16 rifles following Hamas’ attack on unarmed Jews, the Free Beacon noted. The New York Times reported that Israel sought to acquire 24,000 “assault rifles” from the U.S.
“But the Biden administration would not approve the sale until Israel guaranteed the critical weapons would not reach civilian outposts in the West Bank, which the Biden administration and its Democratic allies view as occupied territory,” the Free Beacon report added.
Biden’s demand suggests his administration “is succumbing to pressure from its far-left flank, which is pressing Israel to enact a ceasefire and accusing the Jewish state of carrying out a genocide as it defends itself from Hamas terrorists operating in the Gaza Strip.”
The rifles are vital to Israel’s own defense and that of its people.
The Times reported that about 500,000 Israelis live in the region, a small fraction of the 2.7 million Palestinians there.

The Free Beacon noted that while the Israeli Defense Forces fight Hamas, “Jewish civilians in dangerous areas like the West Bank are being trained and equipped to defend themselves against potential attacks.”
Yet the training is worthless without the weapons.
Fortunately for Jews in America, Biden’s anti-gun frenzy has yet to take hold.
Recent media reports in a variety of outlets have noted that Jewish Americans have been flocking to gun stores and firearms training classes since the Oct. 7 slaughter.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations on numerous college campuses and in large cities, as well as numerous Democratic politicians supporting the Palestinian cause and urging Israel to declare a ceasefire and “decolonize” the Arab territories under its control, are examples of the reason for this rise in anti-Semitism.
CNN, for example, reported this week that the owner of a pistol training range in New York said attendance at his classes had grown four- or five-fold since the Hamas attack.
