TAMPA, Fla. – The River O’ Green Fest, presented by Grow Financial, will take over Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park tomorrow, March 17, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

For the first time since 2018, the annual celebration will coincide with the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Out of an abundance of caution, the Tampa Downtown Partnership and City of Tampa bumped the event up one day due to Saturday’s inclement weather forecast.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will sound the horn at 4 p.m. to start the process of dyeing the Hillsborough River green.

Freedom Boat Club will offer potential members free rides along the emerald green water shortly afterward.

The dye is non-toxic, biodegradable, and certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Standard 60, for use in and around drinking water.

The Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission (HCEPC) examined the dye and approved it for use in the River O’ Green event.

The free festival also includes live entertainment, food vendors, beer, a pet costume contest, fun family-friendly activities, and Hurling demonstrations – a wild Irish mix of hockey, baseball, and football.
