Hundreds of protesters turned out for the planned protest tonight at 301 and the Big Bend intersection in Riverview. Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office (HCSO) had Big Bend Road Closed at 301 and 301 closed on the north and southbound lanes.

The protest was winding down with one group breaking off and heading towards Gibsonton a short while ago.

Commissioner Sandy Murman and Sheriff Chad Chronister were on site at the protest tonight.

Chronister said, “I couldn’t be more grateful that they remained peaceful We wanted to give them enough room, we wanted to keep them safe. Were they agitated? Yes. Were they upset and angry? Yes. We’re angry, we’re upset, so I could imagine how they feel. I think as long as we continue to give them an avenue of expression and keep them safe, I’m confident that our Tampa Bay community, is gonna remain peaceful.”

We have included some photos from tonight’s protest and will build a gallery for this as well.
