Vice President Kamala Harris is heading to Florida and is set to appear Thursday in Orlando and Tampa, including holding a discussion with Florida legislators about reproductive rights, the White House said Wednesday.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra is expected to take part in the discussions with Harris. While in Orlando, Harris also will attend an Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority event.
Harris will later travel to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, where she will meet with service members and receive a briefing.
The RNC released a statement regarding Harris’ visit to the sunshine state.
“Today, Kamala Harris gets to see a state succeeding by doing the opposite of everything she supports. Florida’s better off than California because Kamala Harris never brought her failed politics here,” said RNC Spokeswoman Julia Friedland.
“Despite the fact that she rambles and diverts from the true causes of inflation, high gas prices, and shortages across the nation, she cannot distract voters from her dismal job performance,” said Friedland.
Harris’ last public visit to Florida was in 2021 to promote the American Rescue Plan.
