SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota Police Department is asking for the public’s help in a disturbing case of elder sexual abuse.
The Sarasota Police Department began investigating Marco Tulio Avila Romero for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of Elderly and Disabled persons on June 30, 2023.
The investigation revealed that Romero, who is a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, has worked at several assisted living facilities within the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County.
Romero targeted numerous victims who were unable to disclose that they were being sexually molested. On July 18, 2023, Romero was arrested and charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims that have not had an opportunity to seek assistance.
We are asking the public for their assistance in gathering all information about Romero and any information about additional victims.
