In what police are calling a “solo parachuting” accident, a skydiver was discovered dead on the front lawn of a residence in east central Florida on Sunday afternoon.

Residents of Titusville, Florida, found the skydiver, who had been wearing parachuting gear, around 35 miles east of Orlando.

Crews from the police and fire departments arrived at the scene around 12:30 p.m.

It was unclear if the skydiver’s equipment had deployed correctly.

According to the Titusville Fire Department, they requested a medical helicopter but ultimately decided against sending one.

The parachutist was declared dead at the scene despite the paramedics’ best efforts to revive him.

The police have not released any information about the flight or the company that organized the trip.

The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an investigation.
