St. Pete Free Christmas Tree Collection Event Jan. 9

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – The City of St. Petersburg Sanitation Department will collect undecorated Christmas trees during the free one-time citywide collection event on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. Collected trees will be turned into mulch, which is free to residents at the City’s brush sites.

How to Participate:

1.      Remove all lights, ornaments, tree stands, plastic tree disposal bags and other decorations from the tree. Remember, keep tanglers like lights and garland out of recycling and help reduce waste by reusing lights and ornaments, or donating them.

2.      Place the tree for collection in the same location where trash is usually collected – if trash is picked up at the curb, trees should be placed at the curb;  if trash is picked up in the alley, trees should be placed in the alley. Do not place the tree inside trash or recycling containers or lean the tree against electrical poles, trash containers, water meters, etc.

3.      Set out the tree before 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. If your tree is not set out during the one-time free collection event on January 9, you may drop your undecorated tree off at one of the City’s brush sites or arrange a special collection by calling the Sanitation Department at 727-893-7398 during normal business hours.
