St. Pete House Under Renovation Destroyed By Fire, Officials Investigating

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to a multi-alarm structure fire on the 2800 block of Coffee Pot Blvd. NE St. Petersburg at approximately 6:30 pm.

Fore officials say that units arrived to find a large two-story family residence completely involved with fire.

The house is under renovations and vacant at the time of the fire. No injuries to bystanders or responders were reported.

The house has a protective chain link fence surrounding the lot due to the construction, units had to cut the chain to make access to the house.

Fire units quickly ensured that the fire did not spread to the neighboring houses and extinguished the fire.

“As of now, the aerial units are placing water on the hotspots to ensure the fire does not reignite. Unknown if the house had work done or had workers in the building today,” said St. Pete Fire Rescue.

Investigators are interviewing the homeowner and witnesses, awaiting the area to be safe for a hands-on investigation. The cause is currently under investigation and we will update this story when more details are released.
