St. Petersburg: Woman Dies After Rear-Ending Delivery Truck

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – Shortly before noon, a tractor-trailer, owned by the A&B Moving Solutions company, was stopped in the north curb lane of 1st Avenue North in the 4700 block.

Police say the driver had been making a delivery to a residence there.

The driver had just entered the cab, after picking up his reflective triangles and was getting ready to start the truck and pull away; the semi’s emergency flashers were still operating.

A 2012 Nissan, was westbound in the north curb lane of 1st Avenue North.

Police say that for an unknown reason, the motorist, a woman, drove into the rear of the semi-trailer, under-riding it almost to the semi-trailer’s rear axle.

The Nissan driver was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition but died around 2 p.m. from injuries suffered.

The name of the motorist will be released once the next of kin notification is confirmed.
