Tampa Fire Rescue Battles 2 Alarm Grocery Store Fire Overnight

TAMPA, FL. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at the 8400 block of N. Armenia Ave. at 3:21 am on Thursday.

Officials say, Engine 11 was first on the scene and found a two-story commercial grocery store with heavy smoke showing from the structure and coming from the front entrance. A second alarm was called for more firefighters to assist due to the size of the structure.

Dense smoke traveled throughout the building which caused a decrease in visibility within the structure.

A primary and secondary search was completed with no occupants in the building. Firefighters found heavy fire near the rear of the building and made an interior attack.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported at the scene.

Due to the location of the building, northbound and southbound lanes of N. Armenia Ave. were shut down at W. Waters Ave. for the safety of first responders.
