Tampa House Fire Claims Three Family Pets Monday, Residents Escaped Uninjured

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire on the 700 block of E Humphrey Street in Sulphur Springs at 4:45 p.m. Monday.

Crews say they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the carport area on the east side of the single-story masonry residential structure.

Fire crews immediately began fighting the flames while performing a search to ensure all occupants were out of the home.

Two adults and two children safely escaped the home along with one dog. A second dog and two birds perished in the fire.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 5:30. The home suffered severe damage. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the residents of the home.

An investigator from the fire marshal’s office is on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The fire does not appear suspicious.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.
