TAMPA, FL. – A Tampa Police Corporal was placed on leave after being arrested for Battery last week.
Corporal John Simpkins has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest from a domestic-related incident that occurred while off duty on Dec. 23, 2021.
Simpkins has been charged with Battery in the incident.
The Hillsborough Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case. TPD says that Simpkins has been with the department since 2008.
“This type of behavior will not be tolerated by any employee with the Tampa Police Department. We take domestic violence very seriously and will always advocate on behalf of the victim.” – Interim Chief Ruben Delgado.
