Tampa Police Make Arrest in Hit and Run, Seek Second Vehicle

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police were dispatched to a hit & run involving a bicyclist in the early morning hours. Officers arrived on the scene to find the adult male victim with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition.

Based on preliminary investigation, a Nissan Murano struck the victim as he rode his bicycle along West Shore Blvd and immediately fled the scene. Moments after the initial crash, a white sedan struck the victim as he lay injured in the roadway.

Officers scoured the area looking for the suspect vehicles. While checking the Jefferson at Westshore apartment complex, an officer came upon a Nissan Murano with extensive damage. It was quickly established the driver was Yori McMillan. The driver was interviewed by detectives, where he provided a post-Miranda statement that he was the driver at the time of the crash.

The Murano was impounded. McMillan was arrested, transported to Hillsborough County Jail, charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Bodily Injury, and Driving While License Suspended and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Bodily Injury.
