Some of former President Donald Trump’s staunchest allies used the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando as a springboard to launch a new election-integrity project.
Key Trump allies – led by political consultant Roger Stone, retired Lt. General Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, and Overstock.com founder Patrick Byrne – announced The America Project on Friday during a press conference outside CPAC.
According to a press release, The America Project is “prepared to fund an eight-state effort in hopes of monitoring the 2022 elections and train activists on how to expose political shenanigans at the ballot box.”
Named “Operation Eagles Wings,” TAP activists will target Florida as well as Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Virginia in their efforts to boost election integrity.
Byrne said in the statement that Operation Eagles Wings will teach activists on how to conduct grassroots training, election canvassing, and fundraising for the 2022 and 2024 elections.
The project also calls for drafting and circulating commentary on current election policies, outlining strengths and weaknesses in current laws so that people may access “fact-based truths” about America’s election process.
“Our goal is to not only provide the proper training for Americans who want to make sure that there are no repeats of the errors that happened in the 2020 election, but also to educate them on how to manage volunteers and fundraise for their efforts in a way that allows each state to become self-sustaining and financially secure,” Byrne said in his statement.
“In order to restore America’s trust in the integrity of our elections, we need to do everything in our power to protect the voting process from election meddlers who care only about serving crooked special interest groups that neither respect nor value the rule of law.”
PJ Media noted that the group has raised $3 million so far, and has a target of $8 million.
At the press conference Friday, according to PJ Media, Byrne and Flynn said TAP has already helped organize 4,500 “election integrity” volunteers who will monitor polling stations in Virginia.
Stone told the gathering on Friday, “If I didn’t think this had a chance to succeed, I wouldn’t have gotten involved.”
In an interview with PJ Media, Joe Flynn – Mike Flynn’s brother and TAP’s president – said Operation Eagles Wings is open to everyone, not just conservatives.
“Everybody needs to be involved in their civic duty of voting,” said Flynn, noting that he and his brother were Democrats for most of their lives and that Byrne is a libertarian. Stone, he added, is the only long-term Republican is Roger.
“So, from our perspective, our goal is to get people involved in the democratic process, because it’s been terribly lacking.” Joe Flynn said
Joe FLynn added that the two major parties “never focus on the low propensity voters.”
“They just go after their bases, and then they’re happy to win by a hundred, two hundred votes. We’re talking about leaving thousands, millions of votes on the table,” he told PJ Media.
“Is it ambitious? Yes. Politically, if more people get involved, I think this country is center-right, so it will come out in the wash. Hopefully, pro-America, pro-freedom, pro-constitutional people will get elected.”
Flynn noted that TAP’s volunteers will be able to overcome the messaging obstacles presented by the hostile forces of Big Tech and corporate media.
“People see what happened in the last election,” he said, “and they’re seeing that they have to get more involved.”
On its website, TAP says, “We hope that patriots around the country who are concerned about the integrity of our elections will rise up and contribute to the cause. We believe the American public deserves to know the facts, whatever they ultimately are, about what took place in their local election during the 2020 elections.”
“The American public deserves the truth, whatever it is! Ensuring an inspection is completed is the first step.”
