Trump Says Gaetz Never Asked For A Pardon, Gaetz Denies Allegations Of Sex Trafficking

The New York Times is reporting that Rep. Matt Gaetz asked former President Trump for a pardon, Trump says fake news.

Rep. Gaetz has denied the allegations and tied the sex trafficking investigation to an extortion plot against him. Gaetz has not been charged with any crimes and the investigation is still in its early stages.

In a statement Wednesday, Donald J. Trump said, “Congressman Matt Gaetz has never asked me for a pardon. ┬áIt must also be remembered that he has totally denied the accusations against him.”

On Monday, Rep Gaetz tweeted out, “No surprise that bizarre claims are made about me after I took on the most powerful institutions in DC. Biden’s DOJ wants to pervert the truth & the law to go after me, I will not be intimidated or extorted. And no, I am absolutely not resigning.”

The New York Times said in their breaking story, “He privately asked the White House for blanket pre-emptive pardons for himself and unidentified congressional allies for any crimes they may have committed, according to two people told of the discussions.”
