Trump Tariffs Hailed As “Game Changers” By Manufacturing CEO, Saving American Jobs

Trade policies enacted by the Trump administration, particularly tariffs aimed at China, are being credited with revitalizing American manufacturing and preventing job losses, according to Jim Mischel, CEO of Electric Mirror—a Washington state-based company.

The family-owned business, specializing in illuminated mirrors and related products, has reversed its plans to move production overseas and is now committing to expanding its U.S. operations.

Mischel, in a recent op-ed published in the Washington Times and in a Newsmax “National Report” interview, asserted that the tariffs and the push for fairer trade agreements have been “game changers” for his industry. He argued that these policies have allowed Electric Mirror to maintain and expand its American workforce.

“These policies allow Electric Mirror to continue manufacturing in America, where we began and want to stay,” Mischel wrote. “At the start of 2025, we were considering moving our factory overseas. Now, we plan to build a new factory in the United States.”

The CEO emphasized that the manufacturing sector has been severely impacted by unfair competition, particularly from China, where government subsidies and intellectual property theft have created an uneven playing field. He claimed that previous administrations, both Republican and Democrat, had failed to address these issues adequately.

“We’ve spent millions trying to defend our intellectual property, including working with the International Trade Commission,” Mischel wrote. “But foreign companies continue unjustly profiting from our designs — at the expense of blue-collar Americans struggling to make ends meet.”

Mischel contends that the current tariff strategy effectively confronts these unfair trade practices, levels the playing field, and safeguards American manufacturing jobs.

Newsmax “National Report” anchor Emma Rechenberg highlighted Mischel’s perspective, stating, “You may not like tariffs. I don’t either. Still, there are moments in history when they are a tool necessary to restore fairness to the marketplace. This is one of those moments.”
