TAMPA, Fla. – Renderings of an on-campus stadium scheduled to be ready for the 2027 season were released by USF on Tuesday.

Among the $340-million venue’s features include something that is no small detail to fans who have attended afternoon games in the Sunshine State: an east-west build that means more seats in the shade.

Something that is common in new stadiums and is a feature of the USF plan are wide concourses that allow fans to mingle, walk to concession areas and restrooms without missing much of the action.

Outside the stadium on the north side will be a dedicated tailgating area.

“The design elements and amenities unveiled today all reflect our goal to build a stadium that provides the best possible experience for our students, alumni and entire fanbase,” said athletic director Michael Kelly, in a university release.

When Kelly met with the media in September 2022, his hope was that a new stadium would be ready in the range of 2026 to 2028. He noted a 2027 opener against Miami would be ideal. Louisville has since replaced the Hurricanes as that season’s Week 1 opponent. The date with Miami was moved up to September 21 of next season.

The school also announced a $6 million naming-rights gift from USF Federal Credit Union for a walkway leading to the stadium’s main entrance. The walkway will be used by the team for its pregame walk into the venue.

An operations facility to be used by the football and women’s lacrosse programs, and located adjacent to where the stadium will be built, is scheduled to open August 2026. An indoor practice facility used by the teams opened last November.
