USPS Postal Carrier Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – A United States Postal Carrier was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday, and police are actively searching for the suspect.

Just before 3 p.m., Tampa Police officers were dispatched to the report of a traffic fatality involving a United States Postal Services vehicle that occurred at the intersection of N. River Cove St and N. Mulberry St.

The postal carrier, a white male in his late 60’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that a dark-colored Mercedes sedan struck the USPS truck and fled the scene.

Tampa Police located the suspect vehicle approximately a mile away with damage consistent with the crash.

Detectives are currently working to identify and apprehend the suspect driver and remain in the area gathering evidence and working to reconstruct what led to the crash.
