Watch Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Track Car Thief In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – A suspect caught in a stolen car tried to run but couldn’t hide from a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.

According to deputies, on Sunday, at 2:49 p.m., HCSO deputies and the K9 Unit responded to 142nd Ave E and 12th St N in Tampa regarding a stolen vehicle.

Deputies located the vehicle pulling into an apartment complex.

When the suspect saw sheriff’s office units, he fled on foot, and K9 Wrigley tracked Jawton Antonio Lenord, 31, hiding in a carport.

“Thanks to the determined efforts of our deputies and our K9 Unit, we were able to arrest this suspect quickly,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I’m proud of the dedication and professionalism displayed by our deputies in ensuring the safety of our community.”

Lenord is facing one count of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle and one count of Resisting Officer without Violence, deputies say.
